About the CPD Event

In this CPD event Dr Darren James will provide:

  • an overview of the effects of trauma and how it contributes to psychosis and schizophrenia
  • the neuropsychological implications of trauma and the proposed mechanisms of change of EMDR
  • relevant clinical examples to highlight case conceptualisation and intervention using EMDR to effectively treat psychosis and schizophrenia

About the Presenter

Dr Darren James, BSc, PhD, DClinPsy is a Lead Clinical Psychologist and an EMDR Europe accredited Consultant Supervisor. He is also a CAT, Open Dialogue, CBT and DBT practitioner. 

Before training clinically Darren enjoyed a successful academic career spending more than a decade carrying out clinical research into addiction and substance misuse and has published widely in a number of top international scientific journals (e.g., BMJ, BJPsych, Br. J Psychol, Br. J. Addict).

Darren began his clinical training in 2004 and has since worked in medium-secure forensic, high-risk eating disorder, adult mental health, and Early Intervention Psychosis services in South Wales. 

The session will be recorded and will be available for 28 days after the event.
