EMDR UK Patron Sir Terry Waite Knighted in King’s Birthday Honours

We congratulate our Patron Sir Terry Waite KCMG CBE who was recently knighted in HM the King’s birthday honours. Speaking to PA News Agency, Sir Terry said: “It really is a big surprise. I had no idea that this was coming up.”

The award recognises his charitable work, including years of work negotiating the release of hostages, and the heavy price he paid through his 1,763 days of captivity in Lebanon.

As Patron of EMDR UK Sir Terry said: 

“I am delighted to support the EMDR Association UK and raise awareness of this wonderful, often-life saving, and most effective of therapeutic treatments. I was very fortunate not to have suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after spending five years in captivity, but there are many people with this debilitating and life-threatening condition, who could be helped if they knew about EMDR therapy.”
