NHS England National Webinar: Psychological therapies for the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Wednesday 7th February 2024 – 12 to 1.30pm

This webinar will introduce newly published guidance for delivery of psychological therapies in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), including Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD). The aim of this resource is to clarify the difference between PTSD and CPTSD in order to support seamless and patient-centred access to appropriate psychological therapy.

We will hear from Professor David Clark, Chair of Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford and National Clinical and Informatics Advisor for the NHS Talking Therapies Programme; Professor Anke Ehlers, Professor of Experimental Psychopathology and Co-Director of the Oxford Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma; and Dr Alison Brabban, Clinical Lead for Community Transformation, Tees, Esk & Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust and National Clinical Advisor to Adult Mental Health Programme, NHS England; Matthew Wesson, EMDR UK President.

 We will discuss:

  • information on essential features of PTSD and CPTSD,
  • psychological interventions for the treatment of PTSD,
  • care for people with PTSD and complex needs,
  • factors in decision-making about which service can best meet the needs of a patient with PTSD/ CPTSD,
  • boundaries with other disorders and conditions.

 The webinar will be recorded and shared within NHS networks after the event for those unable to attend on the day. No registration is required for this event.
