Abstract

In this workshop, Robin Logie and Naomi Fisher will discuss this important element of EMDR supervision. They will use video role plays to demonstrate common errors, and you’ll get a chance to practice identifying issues and giving feedback to supervisees. They’ll discuss difficult situations which can arise and how you can manage them.

At the end of the day, you’ll have a better understanding of the role of video observations in EMDR supervision and you will feel more confident when evaluating and giving feedback on your supervisee’s videos.

One of the roles of an EMDR consultant is to evaluate the videos of their supervisees in order to judge whether they are ready to go forward for accreditation. However, it can be hard for consultants to know how to go about this and it’s something which worries lots of supervisees. What makes a EMDR therapy video ‘good enough’ and how do you ensure that watching and discussing videos with your supervisees is a productive experience, whilst also ensuring that high standards are maintained?

Presenters:

Dr Naomi Fisher is a clinical psychologist and EMDR-Europe Trainer.  She has worked in primary care, specialist trauma services, with third sector organisations and in private practice.  She works with adults, adolescents and children. She has been supervising EMDR therapists since 2012, both inside and out of the NHS.  She has recently carried out research on using EMDR online and how therapists adapt EMDR with autistic clients.

Dr Robin Logie is a Clinical Psychologist in private practice working with both adults and children. He trained in EMDR in 1996 and is an EMDR-Europe Senior Trainer. A former President of the EMDR Association UK and member of its Accreditation Committee, Robin has provided Consultants Trainings in London and Cairo. As well as his interests in OCD, Flashforwards and the Storytelling approach, Robin has presented on the topic of EMDR supervision at EMDR Europe conferences in The Hague and Dublin. In 2023 Routledge published his book, entitled EMDR Supervision, A Handbook.
