EMDR with the military and veterans: exploring the distinct organisational and cultural characteristics of these populations and how EMDR can be offered within this context, by Shelley Bradley-Scholey.
Shelley is an EMDR Consultant in private practice. She offers a unique perspective, having been embedded within the military culture, served on military operations and delivered EMDR in active conflict areas. Shelley has recently spoken to the EMDR UK podcast about her own experiences in combat, https://www.buzzsprout.com/2384503/15411035
Shelley is also joint author of: Bradley-Scholey, S., McCauley, M., Whybrow, D. and Hurley, E.C. (2023), ‘EMDR with a Military Population’ in Farrell, D., Schubert, S.J., & Kiernana, M. (eds) The Oxford Handbook of EMDR, (online edn, Oxford Academic, 20 Apr 2023). Oxford University Press.
The presenters have a strong focus on clinical application and all work presented will include confidential clinical examples of when EMDR can and should not be offered. We hope this day provides a safe space to explore some of the nuances working with EMDR in offending populations and clinical examples of working inclusively but safely.
