Title: Enhancing EMDR Therapy with Pranayama Breathwork: Techniques for Emotional and Physiological Regulation
Presenter: Jasminder Bahia
CPD: 2 CPD credits awarded by EMDR Association UK.
Date: Thursday 6th February 2025
Time: 15.00pm – 17.30pm
Abstract
The whole session focuses on integrating Pranayama with EMDR. Pranayama is used to enhance EMDR therapy, focusing on techniques that support emotional regulation and stability throughout the therapeutic process.
Integrating Pranayama with the EMDR 8-stage protocol enriches therapy sessions by improving emotional and somatic regulation, fostering client resilience, and promoting readiness for processing. This approach not only deepens therapeutic effectiveness but also aligns with EEDI principles by employing inclusive, neuroscience-backed techniques to enhance treatment outcomes for diverse client populations.
Aims
1. Deepen understanding of how Pranayama techniques can enhance the EMDR 8-stage protocol, focusing on client stability and emotional regulation
2. Develop skills to integrate Pranayama practices within EMDR sessions, tailored to meet diverse client needs effectively
3. Incorporate EEDI principles by using culturally sensitive Pranayama techniques to create an inclusive and equitable therapeutic environment.
