Abstract

Incorporating Equity, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EEDI) principles fundamentally shapes the presentation. This approach enriches therapists’ understanding of the complexities of cultural, social, and individual diversity, facilitating more effective and inclusive treatment strategies in EMDR practices

The EEDI aim for the event is to enable EMDR therapists to understand and apply intersectionality, ensuring treatments respect client diversity. The objective includes embedding EEDI principles directly into the fabric of EMDR practices, highlighting the commitment to more inclusive and effective therapy.

  • Understand Intersectionality’s Role in Therapy. Awareness of how intersectionality affects client experiences and therapy outcomes, highlighting its importance in EMDR therapy.
  • Recognise and Address Personal Biases. Identify personal biases that could impact therapy practices; actively pursue strategies to mitigate their influence on client interactions.
  • Apply Intersectional Insights in Therapy. Integrate intersectional awareness into all phases of EMDR therapy, effectively tailoring interventions to each client’s unique background and needs.
  • Enhance Therapy Through EEDI.
  • Implement EEDI (Equity, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) strategies to improve client engagement and therapy outcomes, enriching the therapeutic environment for all clients.
